In support of the memorandum order issued by NIA Administrator Gen Ricardo R Visaya entitled “Linkage with the Department of Education” dated 28 December 2017,

NIA R1 under the leadership of Engr. Vicente R. Vicmudo, Ph.D. intensify this year the promotion of irrigation development to high school students. The main objective of the program is to showcase the socio-economic relevance of the agency, thereby creating public awareness specially among students as regard the importance of irrigation systems and its maintenance which is essential in agriculture particularly rice production. Accompanied by their class advisers, 30 students from the Badipa National High School attended the NIA public information program entitled “Promoting Community Awareness on Irrigation Development” at the NIA Conference Room in Bayaoas, Urdaneta City last October 3, 2018.

Manager Vicmudo, EOD  Manager Frida L. Nidoy and PIMO  Manager Gaudencio M. De Vera played irrigation gurus during the  half-day immersion program of  the students. Maricel Magtoto,  executive assistant said that the special project is in line with the top management agenda to stir public awareness among the youth regarding the significance of irrigation development relative to the country’s socio-economic progress. Meanwhile the first batch trainees of PHINMA UPang College Urdaneta (PUCU) composed of seven Grade 12 Senior High School students successfully completed their OJT in November this year also at the NIA Regional Office No. 1 in Barangay Bayaoas here. A memoandum of ageement was signed by the parties earlier in support of the work immersion program which is part of the requirements of the senior high school curriculum. The immersion program also provided prope exposure of  the students in actual work environment while simultaneously enhancing their human relations skills and work habits.
