Rosales, Pangasinan - The launching of the Lower Agno River Irrigation System Improvement Project (LARISIP) on July 26, 2018 at the Golden Flame Resort, Tomana East in Rosales, Pangasinan was graced by NIA Administrator Ricardo R. Visaya and his Deputy Administrator for Admin and Finance Romeo Gan. Irrigation stakeholders headed by officials of Irrigators Associations, congressmen, mayors, barangay officials, LGU representatives and media personalities were also present to witness the symbolic event that would benefit hundreds of farmers and their families. The spatial coverage of LARISEP includes Pangasinan municipalities (Rosales, Sto. Tomas, Alcala, Bautista, San Manuel) and Moncada (Tarlac) for Region 1, and the municipality of Cuyapo in Nueva Ecija. In his speech, Visaya affirmed that LARISIP may officially start next year. LARISIP's primary objective is to construct new canal systems, rehabilitate existing irrigation facilities, restore non-functional service areas to improve water delivery and/or augment irrigation water supply in order to increase agricultural productivity and farmers income, and generate employment in the process.
